Surfing a Begginers Guide To Buying A Surfboard

04月 8th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

Generally people begin surfing on long ultra buoyant boards that are easy to paddle and easy to balance on after the take off. If you don’t want to drop hundreds of dollars to try a sport your not sure you will like I would recommend you find a close surf shop and rent a board and wetsuit if you need it. If you have balance and can surf than the only difference between you and I is time in the water! I try to surf as much as I can to hone my skills, you must commit yourself if you are going to be a surfer. I have taught dozens of friends to surf and get immense joy in seeing surfers having such a good time during a session.

I recommend a long board if you’re learning the basics and are always going to beginner breaks. A shorter board will give you more speed and more maneuverability on the wave. Manipulating the barrel and hitting the lip are extremely important and the shape and design of each board has different results on different waves. A pin tail helps in the barrel so you can sit your back foot right on the foam ball…but that comes in years and years of surfing. I have a grave yard of short board because I buy boards used…usually. For $100-$250 you can find a decent short board to start learning to RIPP!

I don’t know much about long boards but I know they are very unique in their own way. I hope some one that has something to contribute about long boards would post a similar article.

If you are intimidated about going out to a surf spot just go to ANY surf shop and they will tell you of a beginner beach that you can go to a get used to swimming in the surf and taking a pounding or two by a clean up set. Don’t worry I was a kook not to long ago but 5 years ago I decided to put in TIME and really get to learn about the culture and sport. I love everything about it and it has changed my life around. I hope you can surf and have fun as often as you can because it means so much too so many people around the world. For some people I know good waves are the only thing that truly matters in life.

Great Daytrips From Cape Town - South Africa

04月 8th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

Cape Town is a modern city that combines both old and new, which is reflected in the city’s architecture, culture, history and people. With a large table-shaped mountain serving as a backdrop, Cape Town is set on a peninsula where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. There are a lot of great daytrips in Cape Town, offering something for everyone.

Visitors must get involved in the daytrips from Cape Town to fully experience this city. There are so many things to do, ranging from water activities like scuba diving and snorkelling, to sightseeing and appreciating the city’s natural charm. Close to the city centre, the beaches of Cape Town are among the most beautiful in the world. Magically positioned between mountain and sea, the beach stretch from False Bay to the Atlantic coast is ideal for sun lovers and water sports fans.

Just 10 minutes from Cape Town are Clifton and Camps Bay, both of which are perfect for swimming and sunbathing. There is lots of surfing spots, as well as great areas to fish, scuba dive and board sail. The Atlantic coast can be quite cool for some. A short drive away is False Bay, where there are warm waters at Mulzenberg, Kalk Bay or Simonstown. For those who enjoy sunbathing among nature, Sandy Bay natural reserve is a nudist beach. All of Cape Town’s beaches offer free entry, with the exception of Boulders Beach in False Bay.

There are many activities to choose from when planning Cape Town daytrips. Daytrips are best done with hire car, though it is not crucial to have one. The most enjoyable trip is discovering the splendour of Table Mountain by cableway. The most identifying landmark of Cape Town, Table Mountain is a World Heritage site. Its peak is at 1086m above sea level and can be accessed by cable car.

As visitors enjoy refreshments at the restaurant, they will be in awe of the 360-degree view of Cape Town. The mountain is covered with wild flowers and also the famous silver tree. It is a joy for hikers to experience Table Mountain, with different walking trails marked by difficulty.

The most important historical site in South Africa, Robben Island is definitely worth a day visit. First used by the Dutch East India Company as a refreshment port, it then became a leper colony and asylum. After that, the army gained control of the island, after which it came under the Department of Correctional Services in 1960. Later a renowned prison for those considered hazardous to the former government, its most famous occupant was former president Nelson Mandela, who stayed here for 27 years. Guided tours of the museum and prison are available to a limited number of visitors per day.

You can travel to the Cape winelands by taking a scenic drive through vineyards, mountain ranges and Dutch homesteads. The historic town of Stellenbosch is worth a visit, especially if you participate in the wine cellar tours and tastings. Stop by Paarl and enjoy the Fairview wine estate for wine and cheese tasting.

There are seasonal Seal Island boat trips available along the Atlantic seaboard and at Hout Bay, as well as a coastal drive through Constantia Nek and Ouu Kaapse Weg to Cape Point, where the two oceans meet. The Good Hope Nature Reserve is located close by and offers a handsome selection of birds, plants and animals. From here, take a look at Simonstown and the large penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. Lastly, stop by the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens to unwind.

There are seasonal events in Cape Town as well. Between June and November, whale watching is available and should not be missed. The whales make their journey from the Antarctic to the Cape and Hermanus coasts. At Walker Bay, they even come as close as 50 metres from the shore. You can visit the Harbour Museum in Hermanus during your trip as well. To get back to Cape Town, take the beautiful ‘Riviera of the Cape’ coast drive through Gordon’s Bay.

If you are visiting Cape Town during September and October, take yourself two hours away from the city through the amazing shift from desert to lush flowers. During these months, native flowers cover the whole ground.

Cape Town has abundance of things to do and places to see. Whether you’re drawn to water, sand or greenery, you can find it here. Treat yourself to one of the world’s most beautiful tourist attractions and enjoy a unique array of personal experiences.

Andy Burrows has seen it all, the outstanding beauty of Cape Town and many other South African destinations. He strongly advises: http://www.comparecarrentals.com/ and http://www.comparecarrentals.co.uk/

Best of Nantucket’s Beaches

Best of Nantucket’s Beaches

Tourists, vacationers and coastal residents flock to beaches every year. What is it about the world’s beaches that attract people from all over the globe? The answer is obvious - the warm sand, clear skies, hot temperatures and cool water.

Nantucket, Massachusetts just off the Southern Massachusetts coast has 82 miles of beaches. What makes it unique is that while many of the beaches are privately owned the owners keep them open for the public to enjoy. While the Island is home to some 10,000 year-round in the summer the population on the island rocket to 50,000. There are beaches for all likes and types. There are private beaches with cottages, beaches for surfing, marinas, beaches for chilling out, there’s the wharf and Nantucket Harbor and even a child beach for children and families.

Each beach has it’s own personality. The best place for children and families is child beach. Child beach is in the Nantucket Harbor and features calm waters, has a playground for children, a grassy area, picnic tables and a snack-bar. Child beach also has a bandstand that features concerts during the summer. There are also puppet shows in the bandstand for children. Child beach features life guards throughout summer so you can rest assured it’s safe. There are a couple of options for children and families other than Child Beach, try Dionis Beach and Jetties Beach.

Dionis Beach is on the Nantucket Sound and is perfect for swimming and smaller children because of the calmer waters.

Jetties Beach features a boardwalk, shops, restaurants and rental shops. There is also a playground for children on this beach. The water is shallow and there are no waves. It’s a great place to relax and watch ships and sailboats come and go through the harbor.

For the surfers there’s Cisco Beach. With big waves, this beach is the best place to surf or catch a surfing lesson. Life guards are available there, but surfers are still urged to be cautious because there can be strong riptides and under toes.

Long known as the family beach is Surfside Beach on the south side of the island. There is parking, bike paths and a shuttle that runs to this beach. The only danger is strong under toes. This unfortunately is the danger for all of the beaches along the south coast of the island. Beaches on the northside, or on the Nantucket Sound have much calmer waters. There are lifeguards on duty at Surfside Beach.

There are other beaches such as Siasconset or just ‘Sconset for short and Madaket Beach. Madaket beach is a great place to catch the sunset and hang out, but dangerous and strong surf makes swimming difficult. ‘Sconset Beach also has strong a strong undertow but it is still worth visiting. It has a nice view and is just a short walk from town.

There is a lot to do on and near the water on any Nantucket beach also. There is boating, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and of course fishing. There are many places on the shore that will rent out motor boats, sailboats, kayaks and windsurfers. Fishing is also popular right from the beach. That’s right, in late spring and early fall the fish come close enough to shore where fishing is as enjoyable as it is successful. There are bait and tackle shops that both sell and rent fishing equipment. There are also charter boats that will take fishers out to sea for a few hours or a full day.

No matter what the personality there’s a Nantucket beach to match.

What You Must Know About Triathlon Suit

04月 7th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

Triathlon suits are normally wet suits. Nonetheless, they are matters of personal choice. Anyone can choose their suits according to their best judgements and no one can restrict them from doing so. But whatever freedom is given to the racers, they still must choose what is ideal to them.

Being the type of suit that provides most of the advantages in using the principle of cold and heat absorption, wet suits seem to rank top among all choices.

But not all wet suits are alike. There are those that were specifically designed for SCUBA diving, surfing and those that are perfect for triathlon races.

From the suit’s simplest form, they have undoubtedly morphed into varying classifications that optimize the use of wet and cold system.

Basic physics tell us that heat transfers from a hot object towards a colder one. This law is so simple that you can bet it and argue otherwise ’til your wit’s end. No triathlon suit can prevent the exchange of cold and heat. After all, that is not the work they were intended to do. However, many are so entirely engineered to make as much delay of the heat transfer as physical science would allow.

It is critical for a triathlon swimmer to preserve as much heat as his suit will allow because delay (even by a second or two) can create a large discrepancy between you and the racer running before and after you.

The loss of heat in water are dependent on several variables including the total mass of the person’s body, a person’s physical exertion, the materials used in creating the triathlon suit and the temperature of the surrounding water itself.

The ideal triathlon suit, or any wet suit for that matter, is one that is made of three layers. The outer protective layer, the insulation layer and the wicking layer.

The outer protective layer is obviously the one that coats the whole of the suit. The more popular material used for this is the neoprene. This works well yet very delicate that simple scratches may actually cause the suit to get serious damages.

The insulation layer, on the other hand, appears in many varieties. The most usual choices include wooly bear, open-cell foam, type-B marine thinsulate, and radiant barriers.

The wicking material acts as the absorber of skin’s moisture thus keeping the racers’ skin dry. When the body is wet, it looses much heat than normal. The wicking layer of the skin prevents this from occurring.

I have been studying and reviewing online so called “work from home” opportunities for years in search of the right one for me to succeed. I am just you average stay at home mum with not much more experience on the computer than surfing the net and shopping on Ebay. This is not a “get rich quick” scheme in any way, but to make a couple of hundred dollars a day sitting at home is a pretty good start! And it only gets better as my website grows bringing more money again.

So I am not rich yet but I now have a regular income coming in working from home, which is a whole lot more than would have if you go and join other so called “work from home” scams.

What The Rich Pom has to offer:

1) For a one time payment of $79 (usually $200), you will receive an ebook full of easy to follow steps to financial freedom.

2) You get 24 hours, 7 days a week support through emails to The Rich Pom himself along with his PERSONAL PHONE NUMBER! Call him whenever between 8am and 7pm monday to friday.

Characteristics of an Internet Child Predator

04月 6th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

Millions of children and teens are on the Internet everyday. They surf web pages, get their email and chat with their friends. Most parents believe this is harmless, except that our kids are being targeted everyday by predators on the Internet.

Let’s explore some of the characteristics of a child predator. The average child predator is male and over the age of 25. He could be considered “the guy down the street who kept to himself”. The loner type, very few friends and typically not married. A child predator most often has limited social skills, but a propensity to engage in conversation with an adolescent or child. This individual will tend to become shy with adults of his own age. He tends to seek out jobs that allow him to work around children, such as a baseball or basketball coach, Boy Scout leader, janitor or teacher at the school.

Child predators usually see nothing wrong with their behavior. Child predators come from all walks of life, some are rich, some are poor, some are educated and some are not. They usually have a sexually abusive or violent background histories. Child predators will “target” numerous children at one time. Their words are cunning and they take their time to “groom” their victims. “Grooming” is done by showering their victims with gifts, signs of affection and anything else they can, in order to build trust and a relationship with potential victims. Once trust is built, blackmail and guilt are sometimes used to get the child to succumb to their demands.

The Child Internet predator will utilize any or all of these techniques online. They will often times mask their age and state that they are around the same age as your child. They will stalk the Internet sites that most children and teens regularly visit. Hiding behind their computer screen, waiting patiently and then attacking their prey, our children.

How can you tell if your child is at risk? Your child may turn off the computer suddenly when you enter the room. Your child may be receiving gifts from others that you do not know. They may become more secretive about what they are doing online and usually spend more than an hour a day on the Internet. You may see long distance phone numbers that you do not recognize or they may receive phone calls from people that you are not familiar with. These are all signs that your child may be at risk.

As a parent, what can you do? One of the best ways to keep your child safe online is to create open dialogue with your child and to set clear rules regarding computer and Internet usage. You will also need to understand what your child is doing online. Learning more about how your child uses the Internet and whom they talk to in emails and instant message chat rooms can do this. You may also consider utilizing Internet monitoring tools to keep tabs on your child’s activity.

Don’t Let The Wind… Blow Your Game Away

04月 6th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

Sure it’s nice to head out to the golf course on a beautifully tranquil day where it’s easy figure your yardages and be confident in your club selection. Unfortunately, however, Mother Nature isn’t always so accommodating and you’ll find yourself having to deal with a bit of wind.

When you’re up against a windy day on the golf course, if you let it affect your attitude, you’re going to be in for a long day. Many players do and are. You, however, should not let this happen. First of all it does your golf game no good, and secondly, if your playing partners bowing to the wind, then all the better for you to collect on the nassau.

The basic golf shot that enters the conversation when talking about playing in the wind is the knockdown shot.

There are a couple of basic keys to the knockdown shot.

The first is that the hands have to remain ahead of the clubhead through the swing. So at your address, move the ball slightly further back in your stance. The knockdown golf shot is not a ‘full swing’ type of shot. It is a control shot. In fact, with knockdown shots you’ll want your finish position to be lower and not fully completed.

The second key is based upon the first.

Since the knockdown shot is not a full swing you’ll want to take and extra club or two in order to (a) take the loft off of what would be your normal shot and (b) get the distance you want with a lower ball flight and easier non-full swing.

The tailwind - Playing a hole with a good tailwind is a favorite scenario for many. Keep in mind however, when it comes to playing in the wind… control is the key word.

A tailwind certainly adds distance and carry to your golf shots, and will help keep your shots straighter, but remember it also adds roll. And if we’re talking about an approach shot into the green, the tailwind is going to take the backspin off of your shot and subsequently your ball won’t check nearly as tidy when it hits the green. So, factor in not only the distance, but roll as well.

The headwind - now you’ve made 180 and you’re heading back into the same wind that was just at your back. Now is when the knockdown becomes your friend and ally. Remember, play the ball back in your stance (keeping your hands ahead of the clubhead), take more club, and swing easy and under control.

The crosswind - the crosswind or the quartering wind is the most difficult to deal with. This type of wind will magnify the spin and shape of your shot. If your flight is shaping the same direction, think distance and roll but, if you’re going to shape your shot back into the crosswind add extra yardage to your calculation.

Given these two mirroring results, you can see that a crosswind can produce greatly varying distance. Because of this great variance, you’ll want a strategy that takes advantage of the wind.

If your distance is open ended you’ll probably want to shape your golf shot to work with the wind and get the most distance you can. If, however, you’re hitting your approach to the green, you’ll want to shape your shot back into the crosswind so your ball will land softer on the putting surface.

In summary, the key to wind play is control.

Remember, a solidly struck golf ball will be less affected by any wind as opposed to one that takes flight with a side spin.

Be confident when playing in the wind, ratchet your swing back a couple of notches and think about a nice smooth rhythm with solid contact.

04月 6th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

If you are using Windows Operating System and did not use Proxy to connect to the internet, then search for the ‘hosts’ file or if you use Windows XP and use Windows XP standard installation, you can find the file at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

These file used as a mapping site URL to your localhost IP.

Local Residents Under Threat From Poor Computer Security

04月 6th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

Local businessman and computer expert Dave Page, who runs Hybrid Computers, is warning home computer users in the Aylesbury area to beware that they are leaving themselves open to identity theft, spying and viruses from unscrupulous broadband hackers.

Typical home surfers shop and bank online; they use popular auction sites such as eBay and are likely to book their holiday on the net too. Lack of computer security is a growing menace for people unaware of the risks that using an unsecured internet connection can cause. The increasing use of laptops that use wireless broadband is adding to the problem. Surfing the net while relaxing in the garden during the warm summer weather may seem a luxury, but vulnerable users can be easily exploited.

Mr Page said: “Home surfers have a huge amount of personal information on their PCs. Every time they shop online, they are transferring that information across cyberspace. If they are using an unprotected Wi-Fi connection, rogue users within signal range can surf the net at the expense of someone else’s phone bill. This may seem fairly harmless, but it can have a dramatic effect on your surfing speed. But worse, experienced hackers can gain access to your data, files, personal information and more, without you noticing.”

He warned that having up-to-date anti-virus software and a firewall is also vital to prevent your computer from being disabled by viruses and spyware programmes that can reveal what you do on the internet. Mr Page explained: “Many users already have viruses and spyware on their PCs but are unaware that they are open to attack. Protecting yourself from these problems is really simple. Most home users just need their security settings enabled on equipment they already own. Others just need some additional software, which is very cost-effective compared with the cost of having your identity cloned or your internet connection exploited.

Hybrid Computers deals with these kinds of problems on a daily basis. Dave Page set up the company as he felt the Aylesbury area was not well served, with most computer companies only providing protection for businesses. He said: “The reason that thousands of local residents have no security on their wireless networks isn’t down to expense; it’s simply that they have no idea of how to set it up. It costs next to nothing to secure your PC and avoid problems. I recommend that everyone secures their computer today before it is too late.”

The History of Seal Beach California

04月 5th, 2008 by surfboardart1887

Seal Beach, California used to be dynamic and charming place. Now the situation is a bit different. Some years ago Seal Beach was a lively and dynamic place with games, entertainment and of course, the seals. Nowadays, all the liveliness and clamor of Seal Beachis replaced with people peacefully walking the pier or or enjoying the beautiful beaches.

Seal Beach, California was established in 1915 with a population of 250. The town was first established under the name Bay City before being changed to Seal Beach. It offers the longest beach south of San Francisco. The beach is unique with its seals but also with the sightseers who visit the town, the people who go there to picnic, the adults who dance in the pavilion or dine at the restaurants and so on and so forth.

With the foundation of Pacific Electric Railway, Henry Huntington had brought to Seal Beach, California many people who displayed interest to invest their money in the community. These people wanted to buy a strips of land along the beach, which was a rare commodity. As the population of Seal Beach, California was increasing, the people continued to enjoy the beauties that town had to offer.

During World War II the growth slowed down a bit, but the postwar years ushered in improved incomes and industry. Many more people decided to settle down in the area and trade was developing very quickly.

Some years later, somebody decided to make Seal Beach, California a conservation area. They closed the gambling houses and the amusement park. The purpose of all these prohibitions was to stop sea drilling, inshore erosion, and other environmental threats.

At that time, the population of Seal Beach, California had grown to 25,000. Although the size of the population had decreased, the way of life in Seal Beach was quite pleasant. The people were living in a comfortable and quiet place rather than a noisy industrial town. A place where you can relax in peace and where you can enjoy the environment. Seal Beach, California welcomes all tourists who want to go surfing and shopping, or who want to dance and listen to music. The beaches also offer lovely playgrounds and picnic sites.

Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning property. Get the information you are seeking now by visiting http://www.thepropertyprince.com/real-estate/real-estate/the-history-of-seal-beach-california.html
