Mortgage Broker-Loan Officers - Making Money In This Business Is Entirely Up To You

It’s funny to me how people can sit there and complain they don’t have any business coming in but at the same time can have a 2 hour conversation about the latest “Dancing With The Stars” episode. Then you get the guy who sits in front of his computer for 3 hours figuring out his fantasy football strategy, but goes “boo-hoo” at the end of the month when their paycheck isn’t very big.

Does this scenario apply to everyone? Heck no, but I’ll bet a lot of people KNOW a Loan Officer who is or has been guilty of it. Also, I’m sure you’ll smile about it because you may have done it yourself at one point or another and you know what I’m going to say. Oh, before you think I’m just blowing smoke, I’ll tell you that I’ve been there, done that, but I talked about “The Shield” and “24″.

The bottom line is it’s all up to YOU when it comes to making money in the mortgage business. Blaming your income on lack of business just doesn’t cut it. If what you are doing isn’t producing, guess what, chances are you’re doing it WRONG! Change something. Analyze it, do something different. Instead of Starbucks for coffee in the morning, go to a different coffee shop. Instead of taking the interstate to work, try the back roads. Get into a different routine.

Loan Officers are making money left and right in the mortgage business, even in this market. What’s the difference between them and the non producing LO’s? The only thing I can accurately say is I can pretty much promise you their work habits are a bit different than the “not making money Loan Officer.”

A lot of Mortgage Broker and LO’s don’t understand they are, for the most part, self employed. Maybe not on their W2, but their mindset needs to be so. Think about it, their income is mostly based on THEIR activity, not anyone else’s. THEY are the focal point of their financial situation.

I don’t know how much more clear I can be about that. {If that statement just made you mad, ask yourself why, but don’t get mad at me for pointing it out} I’m not trying to beat anyone up, I just want to make you think about your business and where it can take you. If you’re not where you want to be, then change it. Wear different cloths, get another hair style, read different books, just change something and see what happens. Get you mindset focused differently and see what that does for you. It’s totally up to you, so go out there and do what you need to do!

Buying a Refurbished PC

Refurbished desktop computers are essentially second hand pc’s. Refurbished desktop computers come from two main sources, returns and trade-ins. These days the majority of manufacturers recycle their returned stock, whether they were considered faulty by the consumer or returned for other reasons. You may have also noticed other consumer electronics popping up on the market described as ‘manufacturer refurbished’, these products come from the same process as refurbished computers.

Simplistically when a manufacturer refurbishes a computer they;

  • Clean the machine and peripherals
  • Test each component individually to verify that they still function properly
  • Format every hard drive, to remove any data stored on them
  • Assemble the parts to form a ‘new’ refurbished system
  • Test the system again, as a complete platform
  • Install an operating system and hardware drivers

These systems are then put back on the market as refurbished systems, with a lower price tag reflecting this. So now you’re wondering, should you buy a refurbished desktop computer? There isn’t really a simple answer, it all depends on the individual system and your circumstances. By circumstances I’m referring to your budget and what you’re going to use the system for. For information on determining what you need in a computer from what you’re going to use it for check out http://www.discountdesktopreviews.com/articles/finding-a-cheap-pc.html . Once you have decided whether a refurbished system would suffice your needs, you then need to look at your budget.

For those running a tight budget, refurbished systems are a great way to save some cash when buying a new system. If, on the other hand you have more money to spend on a pc, you should consider the limitations and disadvantages of a refurbished pc.

A big limitation of refurbished computers, and all refurbished consumer electronics for that matter, is the inability to customize your purchase. When you buy a brand new computer, you have the choice to customize it to your needs. With refurbished systems they come as they are.

Another disadvantage of second hand systems is the fact that what you can buy, is constrained by what consumers have returned. If you’re looking for a specific part or setup then you may have great difficulty in finding it in a refurbished pc.

Finally when purchasing a refurbished computer, you need to check whether it comes with a warranty and the specifics of the service or repairs.

How To Attach An External Monitor To Your Laptop Computer

Often times you find that its necessary to attach an external monitor to a laptop computer. The most common reason for attaching an external computer monitor is to have a larger output source for a presentation. This is used when you don’t have access to a projector system. Another common use of an external laptop computer monitor is to use the monitor when the laptop’s LCD is not functioning properly.

Attaching an external monitor to your laptop computer is actually a very simple task that doesn’t require much technical knowledge. Most laptop computers support a VGA port. This port is identical to the VGA port on a standard desktop computer. You simply plug the external monitor into the VGA outlet like you would if you were attaching it to a desktop model. That’s really it.

There are, however, a few differences that you should be aware of. One difference is that a laptop computer does not always have a video signal which automates the starting of the monitor. Often times, you must use special software or keyboard commands to start the monitor.

Unlike your laptop computer monitor, the external monitor will most likely need to be plugged into an electrical outlet before it will function. Some laptops will support the running of the monitor from the battery source, but it will quickly drain the computer batteries.

Once you have attached your external monitor to your laptop computer, you will need to configure the screen. Most user’s manuals will provide step by step instructions on how to do this. It usually only requires a keyboard command which should be outlined in the manual.

After you have instructed the computer about the external monitor, you will need to instruct Windows on how the second laptop computer monitor will be used. You will designate one monitor as the primary monitor and the second monitor as the back up monitor. To do this, follow these simple steps:

1. Go to your Control Panel.

2. Double-click on the “Display” icon. This will show you the dialog box for the Display Properties.

3. Go to Settings.

4. Go to the numerical icon to designate the primary monitor.

5. Go to the open box and select “Use This Device As The Primary Monitor” by placing a check mark in the box. If the box is checked for the wrong monitor by default make sure that you clear out that box.

Motorola’s K1 KRZR: Does It Cut The Mustard

Motorola has recently introduced the latest in their line of ultra-slim phones: The K1 KRZR, a.k.a. The MOTOKRZR. The KRZR is very similar to the ultra slim phone that started it all, the RAZR, but is even smaller. So what are the pros and cons of this new phone? Here are a few major highlights of the new KRZR:

The Good stuff on the K1 KRZR

First of all, for fashion-conscious cell phone buyers, the KRZR is a quite handsome looking phone - not something you’ll want to hide in a leather case!

The internal screen on the K1 KRZR is of excellent quality, but the external screen is not so hot and will wash out in bright sunlight. The internal screen has a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and is 1.9 inches across. Pretty much equal to the RAZR in that regard.

This phone also offers excellent camera capabilities. It includes a 2 MP still camera with an 8x digital zoom, but no flash. The video camera can capture 352 x 288 videos at 15 fps for you - not at all bad for a cell phone! You can record up to 25 minutes per clip.

This phone only has 20 MB internal memory, but you can upgrade that to as much as 2 GB.

The bad stuff on the K1 KRZR

As already mentioned, the external screen is not a top quality one and tends to wash out in sunlight. The internal screen (The one you see when you flip it open) is great, though.

This phone also lacks a couple features important for listening to music: drag and drop file transferring and a stereo loudspeaker.

Overall, the new K1 KRZR from Motorola is an excellent phone for most users - stylish and packed with cool features. In fact, I would not be surprised is many RAZR users started upgrading to the new K1 KRZR.

Cheaper Home Owner Insurance - 6 Tips That Will Knock Your Rates Down

It is NOT hard to obtain very low quotes and pay far less for adequate coverage if you know what to do. Go through this write-up if you want to be part of this special group who are paying a lot less while maintaining sufficient coverage…

1. Having window locks on all your windows will help lower your home’s risk of burglary. You will save even a lot more if you go one step more to have burglary-proof bars fitted on all of them. If you’re not one of those people who feel so uncomfortable with such, they’ll get you huge discounts. If you are NOT against this have them fitted in your home and enjoy lower rates.

2. The level to which you improve your roof could make you eligible for a discount. This is truer if you live in the East. If you want advice on how to strengthen your roof and enjoy discounts for doing so, ask your agent.

3. Ensure that you fully understand what the exclusions are in a home insurance policy. They’re things that the policy doesn’t provide you coverage for.

Therefore, before you settle for a cheap rate make sure the policy does not exclude something that might compromise you down the line. However inexpensive a policy is, its main aim is defeated if it doesn’t give you adequate coverage. All it will cost you is reading through the policy to avoid rude surprises on the long run.

4. If your community has a Neighborhood watch that could get you some discounts. Don’t fail to tell your agent if your community has such so you can get a well-deserved discount. You will not just reduce your rate by doing so. You will also help reduce your neighbors’ rates.

5. Installing a sprinkler will make you eligible for reasonable discounts. This is so because a sprinkler system is good for suppressing fires. Ask your agent what you will save by doing this before you get yours because they are quite expensive.

6. You can save much money in home insurance if you obtain and compare home insurance quotes from insurance quotes sites. You’ll realize savings if you visit just one quotes site. But, you will get better results by visiting at least five. The simple logic in this is that you will receive a greater number of home insurance quotes from a wider range of insurance companies. This raises your chances of receiving better quotes.

VPS vs Dedicated Servers Comparison

VPSs (Virtual Private Servers) allows hardware to run at a higher utilization rate. They are cheaper since usually they have less power costs than one physical server.

Their maintenance is still more expensive since it is difficult to patch all virtual servers running different operating systems on different physical servers which still needs separate maintenance. All maintenance on higher amount of systems must be done quick so maintenance time is as low as possible.

It might be difficult to make backup of one arbitrary software. Security issues are more complex in VPS providers than in dedicated server providers. There are two layers of security : both physical server security and VPS security. VPS monitoring might be more difficult than dedicated server monitoring.

VPS requires usually more expensive drivers like multi-port network adapters and more physical connection than dedicated server. There are some more management problems since you will use more Ethernet cables and network equipment like switches.

VPS providers tends to need more IP addresses than dedicated providers. If you have only 100 physical computers with 20 VPS on each it is still 2000 IP addresses. Also, physical system which runs more VPS might have very high number of packets per second (PPS) though network. It is difficult to manage large number of IP addresses, MAC addresses etc.

There are sometimes software licensing advantages when running VPS. Some software licenses are by number of physical processors or physical computers and therefore they are cheaper when you can divide its price by number of VPS on one physical computer.

VPS performances nowadays are very good with overhead less than 5% on some modern virtualisation software like Virtuozzo. But, disk I/O performances might have bottlenecks due to more disk fragmentation.
